Tyler + Jess | Sky Bridge Michigan Proposal

It's no secret, proposals are one of my favorite things to photograph. The sheer overflow of love, joy, and excitement never fails to make my heart swell with happiness. For Tyler and Jess, their story was no exception.

Tyler and I chatted a few times in the planning process on what would be the best way to capture his proposal.

Normally, I position myself ahead of time and wait for them to arrive, however, this time I'd have to follow them with two things being uncertain and uncontrollable - the crowd (would they be in my way? would I be able to get close enough?) and my slight fear of heights. That took a little self-pep talking as it was.

Fortunately for us, the little bit of drizzle and autumn chill in the air kept the crowds away and it was just them, us, and a couple between us, who were kind enough to hear me out and let us sneak ahead once we got to the top of the lift.

As we rode the lift, you could see the love between Jess and Tyler radiating as they enjoyed the ride to the top, snuggled together, and enjoying the scenic fall views Northern Michigan has to offer.

Finally at the top, keeping a distance between us, they arrived mid-span of the Michigan Sky Bridge, and Tyler popped the question. The glow from Jess and she said "YES!" was so full of love and excitement, even I had a few joyful tears peeking their way into my eyes as I documented their beautiful moment.

After the whirl of emotions settled a little, we made our way across the Sky Bridge to the other side, grabbed some hot cocoa, and took advantage of the epic fall scenery Boyne Mountain has to offer, snagging some ring shots and engagement photos before heading back down. As we parted ways they began their vacation.

Saturday, Jess texted me a picture of the lines at the lift and they were full of people buzzing about on the sunny day ready to take advantage of the beauty and wonder the Sky Bridge Michigan has to offer. We made the right choice, picking Friday in hopes it'd be less crowded and keeping our plans through the rainy afternoon. It was PERFECT!
