Presidential Decay: A Visit to Virginia’s Giant President Heads
Ever wondered what it’s like to stand face-to-face with a 20-foot-tall, crumbling Abraham Lincoln? On a muddy, tucked-away field in Virginia, a collection of massive, decaying presidential busts looms like forgotten relics of history. I’d obsessed over visiting for years, and when the chance finally came, I grabbed my camera and headed straight for these eerie, weathered giants. Cracked faces, hollow eyes, and a strange, almost haunting presence made it an unforgettable stop. It’s history, but not the polished kind—it’s raw, abandoned, and oddly mesmerizing. And while tromping through the mud with James Buchanan’s judgmental stare was an experience in itself, I’m already dreaming about returning for one of their night photography workshops. Presidents under the stars? Yes, please. If you’re into weird roadside attractions or offbeat history, this place is worth the detour. Just don’t forget your boots… or your sense of curiosity.
