Stephen + Nicole | Mackinaw City Proposal

Before the buds have blossomed and the Great Lakes begin to warm, Stephen and Nicole headed to Mackinaw City for a quiet weekend as towns slowly begin to stir awake and the ferries to Mackinac Island have begun running for the season.

Stephen and I had talked far before, planning the perfect proposal - the where, the what ifs, the weather - at the time having a mild winter we wondered if there’d be any flowers starting to bloom or if we’d be surprised by a late spring blizzard. In this region, anything it possible. As the trip neared, temperatures dipped into frost most nights, but Saturday burst open with a windy, but beautiful 70 degree day perfect for visiting Mackinac Island.

Nicole was certain if the proposal was in the cards, it’d be on island. As they boarded the ferry back, little did she know Stephen had a surprise for the mainland instead.

After a day of exploring, they stopped back at their hotel room to freshen up for dinner. Stephen, however took a little detour and suggested a stop at the Mackinac Bridge beforehand. As he led her along the shore to the perfect spot he had chosen, everything fell into place. He then popped the question, and she said yes!
